Scottie Thompson was born on November 9, 1981 and grew up in Richmond, Virginia. At an early age she developed a love for dance and performing. She began learining ballet, jazz and modern dance and danced with the Richmond Ballet for many years. In 1994 she played the role of Clara in Richmond Ballet's The Nutcracker. After graduating from Collegiate School in 2000 she took a year off to dance with the Richmond Ballet.

Scottie graduated from Harvard University in 2005 with a bachelor's degree in Performance Studies and Literature, focusing on French and Postcolonial works. During her time at Harvard University, Scottie was a member of the Harvard Ballet Company, helped choreographing as well as acted in numerous of theater plays and was the publicity manager for the Hasty Pudding Theatricals in 2003. She also worked for the travel guide Let's Go and spent a semester abroad in Senegal.

After graduating, Scottie moved from Boston to New York to start her acting career. She landed her first television role as Shannon McCarthy in the drama Brotherhood, opposite Jason Isaacs. The show was shot in the summer of 2005 on location in Providence, Rhode Island and aired a year later on Showtime.

During 2006 she made several guest appearances on television shows such as Law & Order, CSI: Miami and Ugly Betty. In the fall of 2006 Scottie landed her biggest role yet as Jeanne Benoit on the CBS show NCIS. She appeared regularly throughout season 4 and made her last appearance in early season 5.

Scottie filmed the independent movie Pornstar, directed by Stevie Long and co-starring Matthew Gray Gubler (Criminal Minds), during the NCIS summer hiatus 2007. The movie is currently in post-production and will be released in the fall of 2008.

In 2008 Scottie appeared in Counting Crows music video "You can't coun't on me", made a guest appearance on the ABC series "Eli Stone" and filmed a small part in J.J Abrams "Star Trek" movie. She also landed a lead role in a yet to be named independent movie directed by Jacky Singh. The movie was shot in late summer 2008 in London, UK.
