Set Report Part 2: Skyline

It’s Shock’s second visit to the set of Skyline, the Strause Brothers new indie sci-fi thriller, and the production is on its final three days of principle photography before completely wrapping. Again, the crew and writers are cool, calm and collected. All of the lead actors are in one of the shooting location’s well-furnished suites relaxing in between takes.

This is also the first truly physical part that Thompson‘s had and she admits to having a desire to do more action oriented stuff. “The beginning of the movie was much lighter,” she clarifies. “Later on, we got to the really intense stuff on the helipad of the roof. That was exhausting to do, but I’d leave pumped up because I got to spend the day running around. I totally want to do an action film! I never thought that I’d secretly want to do an action flick but now I want to.”

NBC cancels “Trauma”

May 15th, 2010

“Trauma” is officially cancelled. It doesn’t really come as a surprise but still.. I wish we could have had a proper ending. Oh, well.. let’s hope for new exciting projects for Scottie in the near future!

NBC cancels ‘Mercy,’ ‘Trauma’

Some have wondered how far ratings need to drop on an NBC show to get cancelled. Here it is.

NBC has put the medical drama “Mercy” out of its misery. The long-struggling Wednesday night drama most recently pulled a 1.0 rating among adults 18-49 in the 9 p.m. hour.

The network also officially pulled the plug on its other freshman medical drama this season, “Trauma.”

NBC executives indicated the show was cancelled once already this season, then ordered a few additional episodes once it became clear “The Jay Leno Show” wasn’t going to last. “Trauma” was averaging around a 1.7 rating in its final days.

“Mercy” and “Trauma” joins “Law & Order” on the NBC axe-list, which after a protracted struggle officially got cut this morning.

“Skyline” set visit report

April 20th, 2010

From Bloody-Disgusting.com:

It’s bright up here; blinding, really. I silently curse myself for not bringing sunglasses as the blazing sun beats down from above, creating a harsh glare on the white rooftop in front of me. I’m standing at the summit of a high-rise condominium complex in Marina del Rey, the city of Los Angeles spread out below me in all directions except West, where the cool blue of the Pacific stretches as far as the eye can see.

Stepping into a covered shelter I’m greeted by a bank of electronic equipment that includes two monitors, both of which display actress Scottie Thompson, in real time, gripping something just out of frame. It’s an axe, actually, which I can see as she lifts it into view, but there’s more – something dangling from the end of it…something both bloody and disgusting, I can assure you. A command is shouted in her direction, and she turns around to find… Well, I don’t know. But even if I did know, I couldn’t tell you.

(…)

Co-star Thompson, a pretty girl with a pair of profoundly azure eyes made more stunning by the navy blue robe wrapped around her thin body, echoed this sentiment when I asked about the physical demands of the role:

“[I’m] living in a really hyped-up state for the majority of the film by virtue of the genre”, she told me. “It’s a taxing experience emotionally, of course, but even physically when your body’s that tense all the time.” Describing her character as a “girl-next-door type… [with] an edge”, the actress was reticent to tell me too much, for fear of revealing something forbidden.

“She’s a very strong-willed character”, she said hesitantly. “I don’t know what I can say without giving it away. But yeah, I think she’s someone who knows who she is. She’s a lot more introverted than a lot of the women in the [film]. She keeps to herself, she’s sort of a fish-out-of-water in this particular setting…and I think really finds her voice over the course of the film.”
